WET’N WILD AT ABLE GALLERY

May 29th, 2011

For the vernissage of  the personal exhibition of the sound artist Felicity Mangan “Pudding and the inpudding” the new duo Wet’n Wild will perform live.
In her sound installation animal sound effects are played though hand-made speakers made of pudding and crystal clear plastic bowls.

In the duo Wet’n Wild JD Zazie (IT) and Felicity Mangan (AU) utilize CD playing and mixing devices to create hydro and Animalia aural hybrids by meshing and grafting found and self recorded water and animal sounds. In real time, silence and the sound of raw recordings are adjusted and shaped by functions of the playing devices, interplay, acoustics and social forces.

The vernissage on the 2nd of June will start at 8:30 PM at the Able Gallery in Berlin.

May 16th, 2011

Inaugurazione del nuovo Padiglione di AVATAR ARCHITETTURA nel giardino di Villa Romana, Firenze

Electric Party
con l’Open Program del Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards

dj WJM (Sistemi Audiofobici Burp)

Deva Wolfram – Piante selvatiche

“Can a party be a form of art? Electric Party is a stream of dramatic elements – songs, rhythm, dance, poetry – that emerge from a seemingly casual atmosphere, a party in which the poetic word intersects with the present circumstances in which we are living. This experiment in artistic contact explores the edges of theatrical and social behavior, and plays with the sometimes ambiguous division between them. Electric Party is an articulated game that unfolds throughout the night: songs, poems, dances and actions appear and disappear without resolution, continually playing with the rhythms of the party, riding its waves. While the guests eat, socialize, drink and dance, the gathering arrives to moments of high intensity through structured and precise sequences of action performed by the Open Program team. Come join us at Villa Romana in Florence. Please bring with you an offering to the Party something to drink or eat of.”

Ordinary Departures: between everyday life and artistic practice.

Frascati WG/Studio Ite Dansmakers /Dansmakers PAL Gebouw

Ordinary Departures:
Choreographers Giulia Mureddu and Keren Levi with musician Tom Parkinson reframe the everyday in their work, and the work finds itself out of a million encounters –with their family, friends, collaborators, ideas, technologies, forms and the work of others. Some of these departures are taken back out of the theatre and presented here.
The three will frame their performances of Prossimo and Envelopes with a series of events in and around the theatre. These include lectures, installations, workshops and concerts and will open up the concern, processes and inspirations that make up their choreographic practice.

Ordinary Departures is an initiative of Giulia Mureddu/ Stichting Broccoli, Keren Levi and Tom Parkinson/Stichting Neverlike. Levi and Mureddu are both alumni of the newly relaunched Dansmakers Amsterdam who support the project along with Frascati and Grand Theatre, Groningen.

Ite Boerma Studio Dansmakers
€ 25 1 day; €40 2 days; €60 3 days – incl. voucher for 1 Ordinary Departure performance

With this workshop the participants will have the opportunity to research methods that permit to intensify their performance by undergoing a precarious state characteristic of a body that is “strange to itself”. They will process their idiom through the stuttering of irregular repetitions, blocks and disfiguring textures. This will be achieved through an associative, emphatic and binary practice that questions the limits of the body and explores the relationship between the “self” and the “other, the intuition and control, the chaos and order.

Choreographer, performance-maker, artistic adviser and teacher Bruno Listopad has a diverse body of work which has won him awards and commissions throughout Europe. www.disjointedarts.com

MAT POGO AT RADIO K’BVH;B

January 28th, 2011

Saturday january 29th Mat Pogo will be broadcasted by radio k’bvh;b at 9 p.m. Berlin time doing a vocal live set ++shuffling through records and archives of burpenterprise

+ Partner: Galeria Plan B

+ Date: 28 – 30 January 2011: The broadcast will start on the 28 January and will end on the 30 January

+ radio k’bvh;b is a three day experimental radio station marathon: 72 hours of playful subversions, aural conversations and hybrid mutations through which radio’s inherent capabilities, specificities and limits will be tested out and the medium’s vitality and significance reasserted.  Amongst boundless technological shifts and innovations concurrently being played out in the sphere of recording and direct distribution platforms (live/ recorded, mediated/unmediated file sharing and self-broadcasting) radio art’s currency as an avant-garde tool for charting out new experiential territories seems to be at stake. We wish to address this by focusing our attention on radio’s polyphonic possibilities, immediacy, real – imaginary space/time conjuration properties, sonic sensibilities and listening habits.

+ the broadcast programme will include:

/// radio experiments around ideas of ‘liveness’, interaction and medium translation which would involve amongst other things: simultaneous broadcasts of listener sent material regarding their current aural conditions as listeners of the radio programme at a certain moment in time and in a certain physical location, collaborators translating different experiences from Berlin/London/elsewhere into writing and sound;

/// hybrid forms such as film/ sculpture/ drawing/ writing/ abstract idea as radio/sound art;

/// sound collages, soundscapes, feedback experiments, concrete poetry, electroacoustic and experimental music;

/// a series of open performances taking place in the broadcasting studio which will further explore ways of participation and the limits of radio.

today saturday 29th on radio k’bvh;b
