\"\"<\/a>For the second evening of the struggles continues<\/strong> section in the Echtzeitmusiktage festival in Berlin, Burp Enterprise’s founding member \u00a0and Jealousy Party<\/a><\/strong> frontman\u00a0Mat Pogo<\/strong> will perform \u00a0a solo set for actual and recorded vocals.<\/p>\n

In the same festival he will perform later this month with Pokemachine<\/a><\/strong> with Anders Hana and Horacio Pollard on the 27th.<\/p>\n

Helena Gough<\/a><\/strong> is an English sound artist based in Berlin.<\/p>\n

Her first two solo albums can be found on the\u00a0Entr’acte<\/a> label.<\/p>\n

Her work initially focused upon the collection and manipulation of ‘real-world’ sound material and the exploration of its abstract properties. Occasional deviations into synthetic and instrumental sources are now developing into more prominent ingredients. Each new sound-space is created by taking everything possible from the tiniest element, working to make something from nearly nothing. This reduction in means yields a density and richness of results.<\/p>\n

Initially trained in violin and composition at the Royal Academy of Music, Junior Academy, Helena went on to complete a BMus at Birmingham University. As a solo (laptop) player she is now presenting her music live on a regular basis, and is also a member of numerous improvising electro-acoustic ensembles involving musicians such as Lee Patterson, Benedict Drew, Andrea Neumann and Rhodri Davies. Her live sets are intended for dark spaces and involve multi-layering and improvisation with her sound materials in order to create a unique environment for each new performance. Studio collaborations are currently underway with Dutch composer Esther Venrooy and Swiss sound artist Zimoun.<\/p>\n

As a workshop leader she is part of the Sonic Postcards Project, recently awarded the New Statesman New Media Award for Education and run by the Sound and Music. The project brings environmental listening, sound recording and the creative use of audio editing software to young people across the country.<\/p>\n

\"\"Antoine Chessex<\/a><\/strong> is a composer and experimental musician born in 1980 in Vevey, Switzerland, with a background as a saxophone player and performer. His sonic researches include compositions for ensembles, solo works and collaborations with other artists. Chessex\u00b4s works are based on the exploration of the physicality of sounds and spaces and deal with acoustic as much as with electronic and electroacoustic mediums.<\/p>\n

Nowadays, allthough mostly focusing on composition, Chessex still uses the horn. His solo works feature dense layers of sustained pitches reacting with the architecture of the space or massive clouds of amplified sax resulting in intense live actions in total immersion in the sound.<\/p>\n

He presents his works worldwide and appeared at numerous international festivals.<\/p>\n

Recent compositional works include “DUST” for 3 violins and electronics (commissioned by Pro Helvetia), “Resonant Water” a site specific piece for acoustic ensemble and “Metakatharsis” commissioned by the Phoenix Ensemble in Basel (to be premiered in 2011).<\/p>\n

Collaborations with musicians like Lasse Marhaug, Zbigniew Karkowski, Chris, Corsano, Ilios, Didi Bruckmayr, Thomas Ankersmit, Valerio Tricoli, C. Spencer Yeh, Axel D\u00f6rner, Hans Koch, Robin Hayward, Lucio Capece, Dave Phillips, Kasper Toeplitz, Monno, architect Christian Waldvogel and media artist Ulrike Gabriel.<\/p>\n
