{"id":10782,"date":"2012-05-23T17:13:59","date_gmt":"2012-05-23T16:13:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.burpenterprise.com\/burp\/?p=10782"},"modified":"2012-07-01T12:42:59","modified_gmt":"2012-07-01T11:42:59","slug":"capracampa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.burpenterprise.com\/burp\/2012\/05\/23\/capracampa\/","title":{"rendered":"CAPRACAMPA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/24.media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_m4gb1tc61A1rt4cdpo1_1280.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"557\" height=\"781\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Burp Enterprise and Circolo Aurora are proud to present <strong>Capracampa<\/strong>.<br \/>\nCurated by Roberta WJM Andreucci, <strong>Capracampa<\/strong> is a weekly open air performance series taking place at Torrino di Piazza Tasso, a wonderful spot in Florence, where the <strong>Aurora<\/strong> is located.<br \/>\nEvery <strong>Wednesday<\/strong> from May 30 through the end of June, <strong>Capracampa<\/strong> will be an aural island sonorised by <strong>Sistemi Audiofobici Burp<\/strong> dj collective, creatively hosting small format live sets.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/24.media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_m4gaxzwd0g1rt4cdpo1_500.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"701\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While the dj sets will characteristically\u00a0offer a well syncopated cocktail of punca, colonial, polybeatz, afroamericana, noise, mod classical, r&amp;b, error and r&#8217;n&#8217;r music, the live sets will be performed by a variety of solo artists or small format groups ranging widely from freely improvised to composed, acousmatic music and\u00a0songwriting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.burpenterprise.com\/burp\/system-files\/units\/jimmy-gelli\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.burpenterprise.com\/burp\/files\/2010\/12\/jimmy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>30 Maggio<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">JIMMY G\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong>electronics<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>+ <strong>Sistemi Audiofobici Burp<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hystorical member of the Burp Enterprise collective, <strong>Jimmy Gelli<\/strong> is a sound artist based in Florence.<br \/>\nHe plays with cult band <strong>Jealousy Party<\/strong> and he&#8217;s one of the founder members of the <strong>Sistemi Audiofobici Burp<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy was a visual artist and a prominent bass player in the psychedelic freeform Florence underground rock scene, which obscurely flourished in the &#8217;80&#8217;s\u00a0as a reaction to new wave &#8216;s frivolity and the natural\u00a0exhaustion of <a href=\"http:\/\/scareystore-xx.hxcspace.com\/popup_image.php?pID=1885&amp;osCsid=ed2c3b629476839d0b5de0b1b572516d\">GDHC<\/a> instances as a collective. Until the mid &#8217;90&#8217;s Jimmy played with a number of bands as Flintstones, Electric Citizens, Popolo del Sole, Box of Surprises, I Piedi, interpretating r&amp;b,\u00a0heavy psych and avant rock with a characteristic super fuzzed bass sound.<\/p>\n<p>Then Jimmy decided \u00a0to quit visuals and progressively stopped playing bass, focusing on electronic music and djing, beeing fascinated by\u00a0both extreme dance music and early electronica. He was a main figure in the so called Colonial scene, in the late &#8217;90&#8217;s and early 2000, when the focus was on the process of finding a common ground between acoustic, electric and electronic instruments,\u00a0a dialogue between different backgrounds, grammars and techiniques using free improvisation as the main tool.<\/p>\n<p>In the last years aside being involved in many Jealousy Party&#8217;s projects, he&#8217;s more and more interested in sound art and sound installations, dealing physically and conceptually with Space and Time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.caroline-mayrhofer.net\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10785 alignleft\" title=\"Caroln-kl-289x300\" src=\"\/burp\/files\/2012\/05\/Caroln-kl-289x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6 Giugno<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>CAROLINE MAYRHOFER<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nPaetzold, flutes, loop station, effects<br \/>\n+\u00a0<strong>Sistemi Audiofobici Burp<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>Austrian multinstrumentalist <strong>Caroline Mayrhofer<\/strong> has a career as a soloist and member of new and ancient music ensembles.<\/div>\n<p>Classically trained as a recorder and a cello player, she plays accordion, piano and saxophone as well, being interested in improvised, folk and Indian music.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2011 she met WJM of Jealousy Party in Bolzano at Instant Cut &#8211; experimental turtablism workshop held by Ignaz Schick, and started a collaboration with her.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theresawong.org\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sentireascoltare.com\/sa\/uploaded_img\/artists\/TWONG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"252\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>13 Giugno<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>THERESA WONG<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nCello and voice<br \/>\n+ <strong>Sistemi Audiofobici Burp<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Theresa Wong<\/strong> is a technically gifted cellist and composer based in San Francisco active in the world of improvisation for a number of years, having collaborated with the likes of Fred Frith, Ellen Fullman, Jo\u00eblle L\u00e9andre and Rova. Her work encompasses music, theater and the visual arts.<\/p>\n<p>About her recent album <strong>The Unlearning<\/strong> out on Tzadik Records the magazine The Wire says: &#8220;Wong&#8217;s writing is highly educated, but free of all academic stuffiness. In the 90&#8217;s he was one of the founder members of the Burp Enterprise collective and <strong>Jealousy Party<\/strong>.<br \/>\nIn the years he developed his own language as a singer\/voice-artist using his experience as a rock singer, an improviser and radio-artist where music, sounds, anecdotic and narrative elements fuse constantly.<br \/>\nHe&#8217;s a founder member of <strong>Sistemi Audiofobici Burp<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Box of Surprises<\/strong> is a project that started in the early 90&#8217;s\u00a0about selftaught songwriting and spontaneous tunes&#8217; instant arrangement. As an open format ensemble the Box Of Surprises hosted many musicians from the Burp Enterprise collective. His personnel could go from zero players to ten.
